A Savory Memory

Iโ€™ve shared my sweet preferences in a post about Lazy Cake. You can read it here. Now, letโ€™s talk about another dish that holds a special place in my heart: Navy Pasta.

A Taste of Bravery

The first time I tried Navy Pasta was in a sanatorium, and I instantly loved it. The rich aroma of sautรฉed onions and garlic mixed with perfectly cooked pasta and tender ground meat made it irresistible. I remember wanting more, but I was a shy boy. My mother encouraged me to ask my aunt, who was serving it, for an extra helping. Despite my fear, my desire for more of that delicious pasta gave me the courage to ask. It was a small feat that left a big impression on me. Since that day, Navy Pasta has been a cherished favorite.

Make Your Own Navy Pasta

Want to taste this nostalgic dish? Hereโ€™s a simple recipe to bring the flavors of my childhood to your kitchen:

Ingredients:

  • 400g pasta (macaroni or any short pasta)
  • 500g ground beef or pork
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta: Boil the pasta in salted water according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the meat mixture: In a large skillet, heat the oil or butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it becomes translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Cook the meat: Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the meat mixture. Stir well to combine, ensuring the pasta is evenly coated with the meat and onion mixture.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.
