The Magic of Piano Improvisation: No Mistakes, Just Music

Side view of a pianist playing a grand piano, bathed in soft, golden stage lighting that enhances the contemplative mood.

Every time I sit down at the piano, I never know how the session will begin or how it will end.

I usually start with a single note or two, listening to the sound and to my heart. I wait for an inner urge to press the next key. Sometimes, I want to create many sounds at once, filling the space, while other times, I gently touch each key, exploring the resonance of each tone. Every moment is an invitation to listen deeply.

What I love about improvisation is the freedom it brings. I can pause as long as I need, without any fear of mistakes – because mistakes exist only in our minds. In reality, there are no mistakes, only our subjective perspectives of what is “good” or “bad.” There are no limits or rules. I dive into this unknown space and stay there as long as it feels right.

I invite you to join me on this journey into the unknown, where each person becomes a part of the music itself. By attending live or joining remotely, you bring your unique energy into the performance. You are not just an observer but a co-creator, shaping the sounds, harmony, and resonance of the music through your own presence.
